  1. It was a Sindy house. I’d been in hospital until 2 days before Christmas and I was overjoyed when I opened it on Christmas morning. I had to play with it from the sofa as I was unable to walk so I could only play with the upper levels but it made my Christmas!

  2. Snowy the polar bear! He was as big as me and so cuddly, I’ve passed him on to my daughter now… they’d both get on very well the some penguin goodies!! xx @emymc

  3. I remember getting a wooden desk ( with lift up lid!!) and chair one Christmas, aged about 8/9. I was absolutely thrilled and loved putting my books and pencils inside it!

  4. An old tape player and now that’s what I call music 1! Hours of fun as we could record things too. It seems like a long time ago!! Don’t think many children would be pleased with that now.

  5. It was a bike when I was 4. It was amazing, it was red with cherries on it and I absolutely loved it. Of course it had stabilisers and it took me ages to learn to ride without them but I have fond memories of my dad trying to teach me to ride my bike and we spent many a happy day down the park. I was really sad when I’d outgrown it, I remember trying to ride it and my knees kept hitting the handlebars but I refused to admit it was too small for me. I’m looking forward to getting my little girl a similar bike when she gets old enough and I can make some new memories with her. x

  6. A My Little Pony Dream Castle. I remember crying proper full on tears of joy when I opened it, because my parents had been telling me for weeks that they had all sold out and that I wouldn’t be getting one. i can’t work out whether that makes them brilliant for ensuring the present was so well received, or evil for making an 8 year old believe that there was no way that she would be getting anything for Christmas…

  7. A huge plasticine and playdoh set with every shade and colour you can think of along with a variety of cutters – I was kept occupied for weeks and weeks! And, I must not forget my first ‘Jackie’ annual – classic!

  8. I THINK THE BEST Present i ever recieved was a doolshouse my uncle made me it was all handmade loved it passed it to my daughter

    • My grandmother bought me a cabbage patch kid …it was the year that everyone wanted one and they where so hard to find that my parents told me Father Christmas had run out ….but my grandmother managed to get one, I was thrilled with it and took it everywhere for years!

  9. Mine had to be when Star wars was first released and i recieved Han solo’s Millennium Falcon……. oh happy days! 🙂

  10. Mine would be a Care Bear or my Sweet Secrets doll’s house which could be turned into a jewellery box, loved that one. Think I still have it somewhere.

  11. A girls world head that I had loads of fun with. That poor head of hair was restyled over and over again

  12. It was a rocking horse traditionally made, I remember well because I was 5 years of age and my sister was born Christmas day and my dad tried to passify me by letting me open my pressies early, I woke up to find no one home but my dad had ran to my grandmas 3 doors up 🙂

  13. The best Christmas present i got was a PS3! and it just came out, which made it even better. Everyone was so jealous!

  14. The best Christmas present i had given to me was a PS3! and to make it even more special , it just came out! Everyone was so jealous!

  15. Jake, my boy Sacha Doll. I later got Sacha and Gregor, his mother and father, and they are all still in great condition and very much loved even forty years later!

  16. A cabbage patch doll – I wanted one for ages when I was about 6 and I finally got one. She lives on my 9 year old daughters bed now 🙂

  17. The best present I ever got was That my Dad got to spend time with us.

Dad was a butcher so used to work very long hours and worked every Saturday then spent Sundays doing jobs so to get time with our Dad at Xmas was really precious to our family. I always think now that parents should spend more time with their kids as they’ll soon grow up and the one thing you can never get back is time. I would much rather see parents give their time and attention rather than showering kids with expensive gifts! Sorry but I’m just an old fashioned girl at heart!

  18. The best Christmas present I ever received as a child was the toy farmhouse, pigsty and chicken house that my Dad made for me when I was six years old.

I already had an extensive collection of plastic farm animals which I used to lovingly arrange into fields (divided by rickety pieces of plastic fencing) and I was over the mon to finally have some buildings to complete my happy farmyard scene!

  19. I got a radio alarm clock when I was little. I never set it, it just made me feel so grown up pretending I had to be up early for work! Now I hate the sound of my alarm!! 🙂

  20. My best gift was a doll’s house. My sons enjoyed playing with it , and it has just been passed on to

    my 4 year old grandaughter,

  21. My Sindy doll and dolls house. In a world of blonde Barbies and other dolls, it was a happy revelation to see that someone made dolls with the same dark hair as me!

  22. I loved my Girls World styling head and my big box of Lego. Mum kept the Lego and my kids still play with it now , more than 30 years on!

  23. I got a Barbie for Christmas and I was so happy with her and then my brother stood on her and broke her neck, so we had to force her head on the remaining part of her neck, so everytime I brushed her hair, her head would pop off, she looked weird with no neck but I loved her so much.

  24. My Best Present was Lots of Barbie Clothes which I did’nt know at the time my Mum had made herself they were covered in sequins and beads and really floatie dresses they looked better than the ones you could buy I loved them.

  25. it was a dolls house, my dad had made it in secret and i came down on christmas morning to find it there, the only problem is that i had to share it with my sisiter!!!!!

  26. A pram which I promptly took the wheels off and turned into a go-kart which I had loads of fun on!

  27. I was always more interested in the packaging when i was a kid, so i’d have to say the best christmas gift i ever got was a ‘cardboard box’ (i had more fun with it than with what was inside)

  28. I pink Barbie campervan, I was so excited and drove my parent insane pushing it all round the house so I could take my barbie dolls on holidays as each room was a different destination!

    • I read your blog all the time. I check it on a regular basis. Then I think of my blog and how your life seems so much more etiixcng than mine. Keep writing! I will comment more. Usually I just laugh or cry right along with you!Love, Bonnie

  29. It was a dollshouse all made of wood by an old man who lived near us and had the same wallpaper Aas our house.

  30. My first bike! It was baby blue and it had tassles on the handles and a white basket at the front. I still remember unwrapping it, even though I was only 3 years old.

  31. My big yellow Tea Pot which I played with for many hours and Thirty Years on and its down from the attic and my daughter is playing with it.

  32. My Sindy playhouse. It was just 4 bits of cardboard made to look like rooms that stuck together in the middle but I loved it!

  33. Mine was a Bionic Woman doll that you could roll the skin up on to see the bionic bits…. sounds a bit gruesome really! lol

  34. My favourite Christmas pressie as a child was a Goofy toy – I was about 5 and loved him to bits, but the toys weren’t available so much in this country. My dad (ever the spoiler!) wrote to Disney in America and arranged some US only toys to be sent over for me. 🙂

  35. A mini munch man LCD game. It was a packman rip off with a tinny little tune and a single game that just got faster as you went up throught the levels. I’ve just given my four year old my old iphone (without sim card) as I’ve got a new one and this one has all her games on it, I don’t think she’d be very impressed by mini munch man.

  36. I got signed photos of Paul Young when I was 11 from Santa. It was the best present ever. I was totally in love with Paul Young

  37. The toys we’re great, but it was always the large cardboard box they came in that lit
up my xmas & kept me occupied for hours!

  38. My favourite was a game called Clearcasters. It was more of a kit really. You could take things like a shell and put it into this clear stuff which hardened. Then you got a beautiful keyring! My mum kept hers for years.

  39. My favourite present as a child was a baby that cried my nan put it under the christmas tree when i was 3 and as I came down the stairs all i could hear was a baby crying. I Kept pointing to the tree and saying “baby nanny” I loved that toy and called her sarah and I still have her to this day.

  40. My horse, I had been desperate for ages and had mucked out peoples horses everyday to prove to my mam I could be a responsible horse owner. I still have Bonny to this day and she really was a diamond in the rough!
