Win £50 to spend on Laura Ashley’s Gorgeous New Girlswear Collection [closed]

Laura Ashley Girlswear Collection - SpringBack by popular demand, Laura Ashley’s collection of gorgeous and smart girlswear puts an end to your young lady’s wardrobe blues.

How often have you looked at your own range of stylish, easy –to-wear dresses and separates and wished that something similarly tasteful and pretty existed, in miniature form, on the High Street for your daughter?

Laura Ashley are thrilled to be launching a new range of fresh, fun and distinctive girlswear for Spring/ Summer 2011 and, just as you’d expect from Laura Ashley, the collection features plenty of nostalgia and whimsy with a strong contemporary twist.

Designed for girls aged 2 up to 8, gone will be those mornings of “I don’t want to wear that!” battles – these are clothes that your daughter will love to wear, and that you will love her to wear. Vibrant and beautiful – just like your daughters – these pieces are the ones that will stand out in photo moments and be treasured in memories for years to come.

Two main themes – Beach Hut and Summer House – will form this season’s collection, each of which will be further broken down into two colour palettes; pastel candy shades for spring deepening into more vibrant hues as summer reaches its height.

The collection features lots of the all-over print for which Laura Ashley is renowned – think spots, stripes, florals – and motifs that smack of summer days: typical seaside imagery, like shells, starfish and fish, as well as garden party-style images of cupcakes, fruits and butterflies. Because the collection is designed specifically for the way that you and your family live in mind, there are a handful of dresses which would be ideal for a summer event, like a party or wedding, as well as plenty of separates, including t-shirts, hooded cardigans, leggings, tiered skirts and cargo trousers – perfect for park and play.

Spring Collection – launching February 2011

The Beach Hut Story features lots of smartly classic red white and blue, with eye catchingly pretty pops of grass green and strawberry pink. Typical seaside motifs are layered against fresh stripes and jaunty spots by way of appliqué and embroidery. Colour blocking is a key trend for SS11 and this also features in the collection. Summer House is inspired by the English garden and lazy picnics – pretty, feminine and whimsical, with soft shades of cupcake pink, lime green, aqua, raspberry and white. Contrast bows and embroidery add interest and texture.

This half of the Beach Hut story still retains many of the elements of the Spring part of the collection, but draws on high summer for inspiration, with shades reminiscent of candy and cones, and motifs drawn from long sunny days of building sandcastles and splashing in rockpools: ice creams, lollypops, flip flops, buckets and spades.

More vibrant colours and bolder prints are the keynote of this part of the Summer House collection, with pieces that burst with joy of warm weather and outside play. Raspberry pink and lime still feature but are given extra zing with bright violet and apple green, while birds also feature as a motif and the fresh, crisp appearance of gingham comes into play.

Affordably priced and beautifully conceived and made, Laura Ashley’s girlswear collection is exactly the stuff that childhood should be made of –fun, bright, pretty, fabulously girlish and fashionable yet still childlike and tasteful.
