Stepney City Farm is a four-acre working farm and Rural Arts Centre in the heart of East London. We have lots of fun and friendly animals: cattle, chickens, donkeys, ducks, ferrets, guinea pigs, goats, pigs, rabbits, and sheep. Lots of them love to be walked, including the goats, sheep and donkeys: even the rabbits and ferrets here have their own special leads.
We’re the only City Farm in London to have its own dedicated Rural Arts Centre, housing an on-site blacksmith, woodworker and potter offering amazing and often free workshops for children and adults. Where else could you join a blacksmith for a stag do with a difference to make metal favours or shape a beautifully-crafted wooden home for a solitary bumblebee.
We’re host to dozens of local allotment holders, who help boost the Farm’s appearance as an oasis on the grey streets of Stepney, alongside our green-fingered Gardening folk.
You can buy seasonal Farm-grown produce, from our ever-popular Farm eggs (chicken, duck and goose) to jams from our own fruit such as Mirabelle plums and greengages, as well as pickles whipped up by our staff and volunteers.
We’re wheelchair-accessible and very family friendly. If it’s bad weather outside, it’s fun to visit the animals in their new barn or join us for a hot drink in the Farmhouse. At weekends you can buy tasty soup and sweet treats from our guests Norman Loves Soup.
Stepney City Farm is also a great place for children’s birthday parties.
