Great facilities, but bad value and bad service.
We went to lunch at crumpet after hearing glowing recommendations from friends. The best thing about crumpet was the toilet which is excellently equipped with two loos (one a low one for kids), a step so that kids can reach the sink and a very robust looking changing table. Attitude to kids is good, there’s a nice note on the wall that says they can help if you need wipes etc. However the service is poor, the table we sat at was filthy, the staff didn’t seem to be interested and eventually I had to ask to get it wiped down. The value for money is also terrible, my sausage sandwich (although very good) was £4.90 and the kids’ cheese on toast fingers (one slice of bread) were £2.20 each, which I thought was very poor value. My order of one sandwich and two cheese on toasts also took over half an hour to arrive, at a relatively quiet time. The value and service really marred my experience of crumpet, which was a shame because the play area looked good and the loo was about as kid friendly as it could be.
