Stylish italian restaurant serving pasta, pizza and traditional italian meals. For under-12s there is a young person’s menu for 4.80 – children can choose from a small margherita pizza or a half portion of any pasta on the menu, plus ice cream and a drink. A nice feature for parents is the little room at the back where you can store buggies, scooters and changing bags.

  1. Va Pensiero is one of my favourites for an informal lunch, a romantic dinner with hubby, or even a take-away pizza to eat in front of the tv. Whether it’s lasagne, pizzas, fettucine with smoked salmon & avocado or even beef stroganoff, the food is always delicious. Mother’s Day we decided to try it with the kids and were pleasantly surprised… our table was tucked away at the back so we never felt like our toddler was disturbing anyone. The only downside of being at the back was that when she started getting bored and wanted to wander around, the kitchen was so nearby that the staff were worried they would bump into her and spill food (or worse – coffee) on her, so in the end I had to confine her to the highchair. They were concerned rather than annoyed, though – in general the service was great.

When we asked for the bill it came quickly (they understood the need for a quick getaway as it neared naptime), and when we realised we had forgotten our sippy-cup, they offered M a straw to make things a bit easier. There is a surprising amount of space, so E spent most of the meal playing in the (gulp!) side-by-side buggy parked beside the table. The disabled toilet at the back has a large anteroom (great for storing buggies, scooters, coats, diaper bags, etc) and a changing table, and was literally sparkling clean. Food was gorgeous as always, and M thoroughly enjoyed her mini pizza and ice cream. And my tiramisu.
