The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry (Midlands) – Family Friendly Museum award winner 2010

The Herbert Art Museum and Gallery, Coventry

Winner of the 2010 Guardian Family Friendly Museum Award, The Herbert boasts 8 new permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions and events spaces, education spaces, a new History Centre and Herbert Media studios. Families are encouraged to enjoy the museum and learn together, and there are lots of hands-on experiences, including dressing up, touch screen interactives, story baskets and a family trail.

They also run a programme of family learning events, often during the holidays and at weekends which can include craft, music, storytelling or artist led sessions. The cafe has a full range of hot drinks, snacks, sandwiches and cakes throughout the day, plus hot dishes and salads at lunchtime. The museum is fully accessible, has baby care facilities, and (according to their website) is breastfeeding-friendly.
