Swallows and Amazons at the Bristol Old Vic

Swallows and Amazons at the Bristol Old Vic

An unmissable family show for children aged 6+ running at the Bristol Old Vic until Jan 15th.

Synopsis:

All aboard The Swallow! Follow Captain John and his able crew as they set sail to Wildcat Island on an exotic adventure to encounter savages, capture dastardly pirates and defeat mortal enemies.

A new musical for the whole family written especially for Bristol Old Vic, Swallows and Amazons is a story of an idyllic era, of endless summer evenings and the beauty of youthful imagination.

From Bristol Old Vic’s Artistic Director and Director of the West End and international hit War Horse, the writer of the National Theatre’s astonishing Coram Boy and with music by Neil Hannon (aka The Divine Comedy), this is a show not to be missed. Capturing the imaginations of young and old, this is a Christmas treat that will never be forgotten – even by duffers.

  1. We went to see this while visiting family in the area. It is a musical adaptation of the book by Arthur Ransome with music by Neil Hannon (of The Divine Comedy).

We were a disparate group of parents, grandparents and kids of various ages but we all really loved the show. It was imaginatively staged and exciting to watch with great music. The youngest of the kids found it a touch long but the 5+ yr olds completely adored it, singing the songs all through the rest of the day and discussing the characters.

    Wholeheartedly recommended.
