Top Places to go in Surrey with Kids

New to Surrey? Simply don’t know where to have fun family outings anymore? Well, “there’s always something to do in Surrey”, says one mum. For my top three places to go in and near Surrey with children, keep reading…

Goats at Godstone farmYou cannot live in Surrey without visiting Godstone Farm in Godstone. The farm and play barn has been running for years, which adults and children enjoy alike. Godstone Farm has a great range of animals, from rabbits to goats to llamas, who can be let out of their pens to be petted and played with. There’s more than just animals, though! Children can play anywhere on the farm – whether it’s in the sandpit or on climbing frames or getting to the centre of the maze. In addition, there’s a large indoor play area. In the summer, you can bring a picnic here or alternatively buy cakes from the tearoom. The farm is also popular for parties and has hosted many successful ones. A gift shop is on site to suit all budgets, as well as an ice cream kiosk and facilities for baby changing and the disabled. However, the best thing about the farm is that it always delivers, even when the weather is wet so if you have some wellies, throw them on and get down there!

hollywood bowlHollywood Bowl is a top destination for family fun, so head down to Tolworth and get your game on. The venue is very kid friendly, as they offer ramps and lightweight bowls for young children to use and welcome parties. Their kids parties are ideal for those aged 5-9 and come with a game of bowling, their choice of meal and a Robinsons Fruit Shoot. A framed photo will be available to mark the event and the birthday child receives a free gift.  They aim to ensure even the youngest children are having fun, so they provide games and activities for them to take part in in the arcade. These include showing off your moves on the dance mat, playing some air hockey or joining the whole family in a multi-player road race around Monte Carlo. If that’s not enough to tempt you, then the special holiday package might interest you when the kids are on half term, or the fact that kids prices range from £4.95.

Chessington World of Adventures Dragon Fury rideIf you fancy something intense, try Chessington World of Adventures (location’s in the name!) for a wild ride. You could go for a tame – but equally fun – round on the Bubble Works or Toadie’s Crazy Cars or you could be extreme and go on the Vampire ride or even . . . Rameses Revenge!  Whatever your riding tastes, Chessington has it all here across nine themed lands in just one park. Remember to smile on rides, though, because when you get off, you’ll find you’ve been photographed and you can purchase these in any forms, be it a keyring, t-shirt or just a standard photo. In addition to rides, there is a zoo where you can visit a wide range of animals from sealions and reptiles to tigers and gorillas. Chessington Zoo is home to over a thousand animals and has a gift shop, where you can buy the stuffed toy replica of animals and other fun treats. Your family will also love the Sea Life Centre, with its breathtaking walk-through ocean tunnel.  As far as eating and drinking go, you have a diverse range of choice. There’s Burger King, Café Nero, fish and chips, the Ice Factory, (if you want something cool!) a Mexican restaurant and Pizza Pasta, and much, much more. However, if you’re working on a budget, bring a picnic – there’s enough space for you to relax and enjoy a bite to eat. Make this a special outing and your kids will want to come back, you can guarantee it!

  1. You might also like to visit Heaven in Nutfield, just outside Redhill. There’s a cafe, creche, playroom, studio and pamper rooms. Check out the website There’s a beautiful courtyard garden for the summer, they serve pimms & wine and the playroom gives the kids a chance to run about with each other while you sit back and relax. You can pop the kids in the creche while you chat with your friends, drink coffee in peace or use the pamper rooms for some waxing or massages or loads of other things. It’s great for a quick visit if you’re locla or call in advance if you live further away and see whats on and book yourself in for a yoga class, bokk the kids in for a kids class, have lunch and enjoy a relaxing time in the playroom.

  2. Don’t forget, if the weather takes a turn for the worst, then try indoor fun at Tenpin. They have lanes in Kingston and some other surrounding areas. Families can also get a bite to eat as they bowl. Look on the website as there are some great offers available aswell as seasonal promotions.
