Summer is approaching and we’re expecting a heatwave, so we’ve compiled a list of our best buys for families to help you through the hot weather…
Sun Suits for Babies and Toddlers
We love these sweet SPF 50 sun suits from JoJo Maman Bebe. They’re nice and bright, lightweight and comfortable, and quick-drying. You’ll also find really cute baby sunsuits on Amazon, Mothercare, and John Lewis, all with UPF 50+, the maximum sun protection. You should be able to find some cute little hats to match too.
Balance Bikes and Bikes with Stabilisers
Halfords has some great offers at the moment, exclusively available online. For children just learning to ride a bike, you’ll find a range of balance bikes like this Balance Cruiser Balance Bike (only £49.00 instead of £71.99 if you buy online), and the incredibly sweet (and stable!) Apollo bikes range with baskets and stabilisers (only £89.99 instead of £128.99).
Halfords has made it super easy for parents and grandparents to buy children’s bikes – there is a Bike Selector to help you choose the right bike, an accessory-fitting service, and they even offer a reserve-and-collect deal so that you can take advantage of the online offers but still benefit from advice and safety checks in-store.
Outdoor Play Equipment
Our favourite has got to be this slightly ridiculous but definitely fun inflatable bouncy castle from Tesco, on sale for £100 (originally £150). It’s been rated 9/10 on revoo, and has a nifty safety net all the way around it so it gets lots of ventilation and you can see the kids, but you don’t need to worry about them just bouncing straight out. If you want something even more ridiculous, try this Jungle Bouncy Castle. It has to be seen to be believed.
Buckets and Spades and Other Sand Toys
Argos has a fantastic range of sandboxes and accessories, and you’d be hard pressed to do better than this Chad Valley 25-piece accessory set. There are buckets, spades, rakes, and little shapes, all in durable plastic. Even if you don’t have your own sandbox, you can keep a few spades in the bottom of the buggy for trips out to the local playground, or use them for digging in the garden.
Summer Childrens Clothes
Finally, with all this splashing about, jumping and cycling, your kids are going to get very messy indeed. What you need is affordable, summery cotton outfits. Our favourites are from good old Woolies, where you can get a 5-piece set for your baby or toddler for £18 (shown), or you can pick up some absolutely gorgeous outfits from Vertbaudet’s Summer Favourites range for 30% off.
