Retro Bistrot: London’s Restaurant of the Year welcomes children

Retro Bistrot teddington - fine dining with childrenLondon’s award winning Rétro Bistrot is an independent, family-run French restaurant owned by Vincent Gerbeau, and was recently named London Restaurant of the Year in the Good Food Guide. Located in Teddington (London), the restaurant is popular with families, (Vincent’s own family are frequent visitors) and provides a junior menu for children. French style dishes are smaller versions of the a la carte menu and are priced at £5-6 each. The restaurant also has high chairs and space for buggies.

Rétro Bistrot offers classic, predominantly French dishes in warm, welcoming surroundings. Dishes include tomato risotto, parmesan shavings, and basil oil; and grilled fillet of red mullet, brown shrimp and potato salad. Desserts include hazelnut tart, strawberry milkshake and hazelnut ice cream and cherry soufflé, cherry coulis, chocolate ice cream.

The kitchen is headed up by David Philpott whose team has gained some enviable experience having trained with some of the most famous faces in the industry (e.g Gary Rhodes, John Burton Race and Marco Pierre White.) Vincent was previously at the Greenhouse, and his team pride themselves on their very high standards of service, and believe it is this attention to service that defines Rétro.

For those rare evening when you’ve booked a babysitter (through our friends at FindABabysitter of course), Rétro also offers a regular programme of events, including recently launched monthly jazz evening as well as a series of regular wine dinners.
