We’re delighted to announce that from a pool of over 12,000 parent-powered blogs, we’ve been shortlisted for two Brilliance in Blogging awards!
The “GO!” category celebrates the best blogs about travel and days out with kids, and Really Kid Friendly is up against some truly wonderful bloggers like Babes About Town and London Baby…. Stiff competition indeed!

Looking back through 3 years of Really Kid Friendly reviews, we were shocked to see that we now have nearly 900 posts in our “Places to Go” section alone. Over the years we’ve covered everything from tourist attractions and world class family friendly museums to sweet little city farms and community centres, plus round-ups like “Breastfeeding-friendly places in London”. Wherever possible, we’ve done our best to make sure that your family day out is stress-free, equipping you with discount tickets, a map and some insider knowledge about the facilities and what to expect when you arrive.
You’ve also loved our Travel series, with exciting features about Safari holidays with young children, luxury baby friendly holidays, the best places to go in Portugal and Spain with kids on a budget, and our incredibly popular Disneyland Paris series.
Without a doubt, one piece of work really stands out, and it’s our National Trust series, featuring 25 absolutely splendid family friendly heritage sites across the UK.
- Top 5 National Trust Sites for Under 10s
- Top 5 National Trust Sites for hands-on history
- Top 5 National Trust Sites for animal lovers
- Top 5 National Trust Sites for creative kids
- Top 5 National Trust sites with woodland play areas
The series has inspired so many of you to get out of the house and rediscover Britain, and has been a hit on Twitter too, with a big thank you from the National Trust themselves. Much as I would like to pat myself on the back for a job well done on this one, all credit goes to the lovely Louise Hobson whose research and hard work has really paid off on both the National Trust and Disneyland Paris series.
Well done Louise – if we win this one, it’s down to you!!
We were rather surprised to have been nominated and shortlisted in the VIDEO category, along with some fab video bloggers like Mammasaurus whose Suck Don’t Blow video makes us giggle every time. It seems that mums and dads watching our videos on BritMums and ParentDish have really enjoyed hearing what we’ve got to say about the big parenting questions like gender stereotypes and maternal instinct. Our instructional videos with tech tips for bloggers have also been a real hit, and we’ve got more in the making…
My personal favourite, and one that I could watch again and again, is our video on How to Make Dairy Free Banana Ice Cream with Toddlers Helping: http://reallykidfriendly.com/how-to-make-dairy-free-ice-cream-annabel-karmel/
What happens next?
You can vote for your favourite blog in each of the 12 categories, right up until 5 pm on Monday April 30th, and then it’s up to the judges to make the final decision. Winners will be announced on June 22nd at Brit Mums Live, and we just can’t wait!
Your vote means a lot to us, so please do take a minute to vote for Really Kid Friendly and your other favourite parent blogs… and please ask your friends, family and colleagues to do the same!
