Somerset House in Charing Cross, London

During the summer, the kids will love to run through the 55 fountains in the Somerset House courtyard, and in winter the ice skating rink is a lovely place to spend a day with your family.

Somerset House also hosts open-air concerts and films, contemporary art and design exhibitions, and plenty of free creative workshops for children 6 to 12 years and their families, studio days for young people, and free holiday drop-ins.

There are several restaurants, cafes and snack bars on site.

It has recently been extended to include the Hermitage rooms, housing five galleries decorated in the style of St Petersburg’s famous State Hermitage Museum. Admission is one pound which goes straight to the Hermitage foundation.
