This autumn, one lucky family is going to win tickets to see The Snail and the Whale live on stage at the venue of their choice. For your chance to win, tell us about your own itchy foot… that’s right, we want to hear about a journey or adventure you’ve been on with your family – or a journey you would love to make if only someone would offer you a lift on their tail.
But first, here is more about the show…
A favourite with young readers, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s picture book, THE SNAIL AND THE WHALE about an unlikely pairing and an incredible journey, comes to life on stage. THE SNAIL AND THE WHALE will enchant and captivate all children from age 4 upwards, with physical storytelling, live music and lots of humour.
This adaptation by Tall Stories is inspired by the work of Storybook Soldiers, who help British Military personnel abroad to record bedtime CDs for their children back home. The Snail and the Whale is the most requested book by the children for their fathers and mothers to record.

We went to Disneyland California in August and it was UNREAL & we loooooved the new Cars ride. Seriously, I had the best time of my life.
I’ve been to Disneyland Paris too but somehow managed to do it without the kids so now I have to lie about it for the rest of my life – far as they are concerned I had an important meeting in France.
We went on a journey this summer with the kids to wales, it was actually the furthest we have taken them! would love to take them on a journey all around the world!
I’ve always wanted to go to wales… where did you go?
We’re actually taking our longest journey as a family next weekend when we travel to Norfolk on holiday. The drive is nearly five hours long so should be interesting! I’m currently trying to think of lots of ideas to keep my children busy on the journey.
Hey Pippa! Getting to Norfolk shouldn’t be too bad.. you’re going for half term? We drive up from London to Yorkshire quite a lot so are used to the 5 hour drives… mostly we play i-spy in the car, listen to the cBeebies and Zingzillas CDs and that bl**dy Pop Party 10.
Tell you what – you should invest in a couple of audiobooks. I would HIGHLY recommend these two audiobooks which are completely mesmerising and hugely entertaining – the kids will not say a peep, I guarantee.
– Winnie the Pooh – the version with Stephen Fry, Judy Dench, Geoffrey Palmer and the wonderful Jane Horrocks as Piglet.
– “Bedtime Stories” by Johnny Morris – it is totally hilarious and I often catch myself listening to it in the car on the way home from school run.
– Just So stories by Rudyard Kipling, read by Johnny Morris . These are so wonderful and captivating you can listen to them again and again.
I want to take my children on an adventure through North America to visit friends and relatives. We plan to take 5 weeks and drive…. Not for a few years though.
Josephine that sounds wonderful! We used to do that when we were small and my brother and I got to see the most amazing things… including weird roadside ‘attractions’ (I’m being a bit generous with the word) like precise longitude/latitude points, the world’s largest easter egg, and the most spectacular canyons.
I am working on an ‘ideas for a southern california road trip’ post and am considering doing one for all the weird stuff between calgary and winnipeg too.

I love to go on trips with my son, an adventure in the woods is always good fun, hunting out all the mini beasts and other wildlife that live there!
We go to Wales each year which is always a great adventure
Disneyland Paris was amazing.
My dream is to take the children to see Father Christmas in Lapland, to see how he lives, who with, what he eats and what he does in his spare time.
I would love to take my daughter to visit her grandparents who live in France, with a new baby on the way we will hopefully go for the first time next year!
I took my 2 sons on a trip to Vancouver. They loved all the open spaces, Stanely park and rollarblading. We also went to Grouse mountain and they just loved it!
I have been invited to see my best friend in Kuala Lumpur every year for the past 20! So – I finally would love to travel there with my daughter who will marvel at all the amazing things in Malaysia and Asia as a whole! Travelling will broaden her mind – as it did mine!
I would love to take my kids to Hawaii-they can see whales swimming in the wild and dolphins among many other natural beauties. I was lucky enough to experience this 15 years ago and would love to go again and have my kids perspective!

I have a 2 year old son and a 5 year old son. This summer we spent a lot of time at my parents home with them, which is in Morcambe bay. We did a lot of things that we would never be able to do in london, the highlight being that we looked for mussles on the rocks and then would crack these open and use them to catch crabs in the rock pools and then letting the crabs go back in the water. as my boys are quite young this was their ‘ adventure’.
