New Foodimals inspired by Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

My kids are so excited about seeing Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 that they have been thinking up their own Foodimals inspired by the likes of Watermelephants and Shrimpanzees. As the kids are only 5 and 6, our Foodimals session quickly descended into a spiral of utter weirdness, mainly involving strange names that had more to do with bogeys than food or animals, but we managed to come up with a few fun new creatures for fans of the movie…

During the process, we discovered that my daughter is (like me) a bit of a frustrated artist. She’s got a fantastic picture in her head and when she can’t make it look the same on paper she looks like she could throw things around the room using just her eyes, like in that Carrie teaser video. The best 6-going-on-16 moment was when she threw her arms up shouting

“Why am I the ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD who cannot make Rice Krispies look like fur?! Honestly! I mean, look at it! The Rice Krispie mouse looks like it has a pig body and chicken feet. That is NOT a mouse. And don’t do that adult thing and tell me I tried really hard.”

Brilliant. That’s me told. Well, the pig-bodied-chicken-footed mouse krispie ended up crumpled into a ball, so we did some tracing from the box instead…
