Family Travel: The Sun’s Holidays from £15

Having enjoyed a tiny glimpse of the sun peeking out over Easter weekend, I’ve already started thinking about my next family holiday! Gone are the days of lounging around on holiday reading my paperbacks – when the sun’s out, my children are completely energised, tugging at my shorts demanding that I play games in the pool, build bigger and bigger sand creatures, or teach them how to do cartwheels. And thank goodness for their enthusiasm and boundless energy! It’s impossible not to smile and connect with the kids when you’re pretending to be a shark in the swimming pool or creating the perfect sand octopus, and that makes for a happy holiday indeed.

When you find the perfect holiday spot, it’s fab… but with two kids things can get a little pricey!

So, how do you escape and enjoy some time in the sun without breaking the bank?

Enter The Sun’s Holidays from £15. Yes, £15. In fact I didn’t believe it, so I checked, and checked again, and read through the teeniest bits of small print to see if that was the price per minute of sunshine, or whether you’d be required to wash dishes or peel potatoes at your chosen holiday park. But no, it’s true, and it’s a pretty sweet deal indeed.

How to book your family holiday

1. Start collecting the tokens printed in The Sun

Every day from Saturday April 2nd until Sunday April 17th there will be a token printed in The Sun newspaper for you to clip and save. You’ll need to collect 8 tokens to redeem against your holiday. If you want your first choice of holiday you’re going to want to start collecting right away!

2. Choose your 4 favourite holiday parks

There are over 270 holiday parks to choose from, dotted around some of the most beautiful locations in France, Spain, Italy, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, and of course around the UK, too. Just a quick surf around their map, I spotted holiday parks all along the beaches of France’s Cote d’Azur and Spain’s Costa Brava, and even one nestled in the Swiss mountains.

The park I’ve picked out is moments away from the beach in Tuscany, surrounded by pine forests (think shaded midday walks!), with plenty of swimming pools and children’s activities. Better yet, it’s a short drive from Pisa – a real plus for Mads, my little future scientist, who is keen to see where Galileo Galilei conducted his famous experiment.

My other favourites are a holiday park near La Rochelle (France) where we could finally see the villages my ancestors left over 400 years ago, one close to Shambala theme park near Barcelona as the kids are finally old enough to really make the most of it, and of course the one in Croatia as it’s meant to be home to some of the most beautiful National Parks and unspoiled beaches in the world.

3. Choose the 4 best dates

With millions of Sun readers clipping tokens, holiday parks will fill up fast, so you’ll need to choose 4 dates you’ll be available between May 27th and September 5th.

If you’re travelling with babies or toddlers I would wholeheartedly recommend a mid-week early summer break, ideally June or early July before the schools close. Not only will you have a bit more space to yourself, but you’ll also find the weather more comfortable.
