Smart gastropub with a large beer garden and regular live music, serving modern british food. The restaurant area is very spacious and it is fairly quiet during the day, so you can usually park your buggy next to the table. This is a popular spot for groups of new parents to meet up for a nice lunch while the babies sleep.

This used to be a bit of a scummy sports pub with pool tables and big screens everywhere, but a couple of years back it was transformed into a great gastropub. Besides a really nice relaxed atmosphere, changing table, parking lot and double-doorways, there is plenty of room for buggies and they serve good hearty meals…so it makes for a great place for a group of new mums to meet up for a nice lunch while the babies are napping. It’s fairly quiet during the day, and nobody seems to mind if you spend hours and hours at the table. My tip: run there 5 mins before desired nap time so that baby falls asleep in the buggy. You can then take full advantage of the lovely grown-up atmosphere and have something from their delicious menu without worrying about how you can eat it with one hand (Note to self: never order a burger if the baby is awake). My only complaints would be that the service can be a bit slow, and the food is slightly overpriced..saying that, the portions are pretty big compared to similar businesses…
Since having my baby I have become a regular here and the staff are really friendly. If there’s a group of us with prams I phone beforehand and they reserve an area in the corner so we can park the buggies and enjoy a bite to eat and a natter without worrying to much about disturbing the regulars. The baby change facilities are excellent – they even provide nappy sacks. There’s a decent choice of lunchtime options but the menu could be expanded slightly – expect to pay around £5 to £6 for a sandwich. Evening meals are more pricey but I always enjoy the food. If you are having a rare night out and don’t want to keep the babysitter up too long then the service is fast and you can be in and out within an hour and a half!
