We’re very excited about today’s ‘Kids Movies’ news – at 5 o’clock tomorrow we are officially starting the countdown to the UK release of Big Hero 6, inspired by the Marvel comics…. it will be in cinemas in only 267 days! Not that I’m counting.
For a fan of Marvel comics and a Disney animation aficionado this is exciting news indeed – the Big Hero 6 movie is set to combine the geek appeal of Japanese robotics with comic-book style animation, Disney’s gift for weaving powerful stories, and Marvel’s sheer ‘Marvel-ness’. It’s got some awfully big shoes to fill (no pun intended) but check out the trailer and let me know what you think!
If your kids are into Marvel comics, they’ll already know everything there is to know about Big Hero 6, but we thought we’d include a bit of a synopsis just in case you want or need to sound ‘with it’.
Big Hero 6 – Movie Synopsis
“Big Hero 6” is a heartfelt comedy adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who learns to harness his genius—thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their like-minded friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tamago, clean freak Wasabi No-Ginger, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred.
When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a cutting-edge robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery.
Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action and all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is dir ected by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”).
Big Hero 6 comes to UK cinemas on 13th February 2015.
